Set Up Email on iPhone & iPad
Learn about Set Up Email on iPhone & iPad in WaymakerOS.
Set up Mail, Calendar, and Contacts on your iPhone or iPad in one step using the WaymakerOS configuration profile.
What you'll set up
A single QR scan installs a configuration profile that adds three accounts at once:
- Mail (IMAP + SMTP)
- Calendar (CalDAV)
- Contacts (CardDAV)
You don't need to enter any server names, ports, or passwords. The profile carries all of that.
Quick Setup with QR code (recommended)
1. Generate a setup code in Commander
- Open Commander at commander.waymakerone.com
- Click Email in the sidebar
- Click the Settings gear in the top right of the email view
- Switch to the Setup tab
- In the Quick Setup (Apple Devices) card, click Generate Setup Code
A QR code appears. The code is single-use and expires in 10 minutes — the countdown is shown underneath.

2. Scan the QR code on your iPhone
- On your iPhone, open the Camera app
- Point it at the QR code on screen
- Tap the yellow notification banner — Safari opens and starts downloading the profile
- When prompted, tap Allow

3. Install the profile
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone
- Profile Downloaded appears at the top — tap it
- Tap Install in the top right
- Enter your iPhone passcode
- An "Unsigned Profile" warning appears — this is normal. Tap Install, then Install again
- Tap Done

4. Verify
Open Mail, Calendar, and Contacts. You'll see a new Waymaker OS account in each, syncing your inbox, events, and address book. Initial sync takes a minute or two.
Generating a code for someone else
Each Generate Setup Code click creates a fresh single-use code. To set up a second device, click Generate new code in the same panel — the previous code is invalidated immediately.
If your code expires before you scan it, just click Generate new code.
Manual setup (advanced)
If you can't use the profile method — for example, you only want one of the three accounts, or you're configuring a managed device that blocks profile installs — you can add each account manually. The full server settings are in Manual Settings Reference.
For mail-only setup on iPhone:
- Open Settings → Mail → Accounts → Add Account
- Select Other → Add Mail Account
- Enter your name, full email address, and email token (not your Waymaker password)
- Choose IMAP
- Use the IMAP and SMTP server settings from the Manual Settings Reference
For calendar-only or contacts-only setup, see Sync Calendar to Devices or Sync Contacts to Devices.
Troubleshooting
"Unable to download profile"
The setup code expired before you finished scanning. Go back to Commander and click Generate new code, then start again. Codes last 10 minutes.
Profile installed but no mail appears
Initial sync takes a minute or two. Pull down to refresh in Mail. If nothing arrives after five minutes:
- Open Settings → General → VPN & Device Management
- Check that the Waymaker OS profile is listed
- If not, install the profile again with a fresh code
Calendar shows a yellow warning triangle
This was a known issue resolved in April 2026. If you're still seeing it, remove the profile and install a fresh one:
- Open Settings → General → VPN & Device Management
- Tap the Waymaker OS profile and tap Remove Profile
- Generate a new setup code in Commander and reinstall
"Cannot verify server identity"
Confirm the server in the warning is dav.waymakerone.com or imap.waymakerone.com. If so, tap Continue. If you see any other domain, do not continue — generate a fresh code from Commander.
Email token instead of password
The profile carries your credentials automatically — you don't need to enter your token. If you ever set up an account manually, use your email token, not your Waymaker password. Find your token under Setup → Your Credentials in the email Settings panel.
Tips
Push notifications
The installed profile uses IMAP IDLE for near-instant new-mail notifications. Configure how alerts appear under Settings → Notifications → Mail → Waymaker OS.
Set as default account
To send from your Waymaker email by default:
- Go to Settings → Mail
- Scroll to Default Account
- Select your Waymaker account
Removing the profile
To uninstall everything in one step:
- Open Settings → General → VPN & Device Management
- Tap Waymaker OS
- Tap Remove Profile
This removes Mail, Calendar, and Contacts together.
