Introduction to Rushes
Learn about Introduction to Rushes in WaymakerOS.
Rushes is Commander's built-in async video tool. Record screen captures, camera videos, or both — then share with your team, add time-coded comments, and track who watched. No external tools needed.
What can you do with Rushes?
- Record screen captures with narration, or face-to-camera videos
- Share instantly with public links, password protection, or embeds
- Collaborate with time-coded comments tied to specific moments
- Organise recordings into libraries by project or team
- Track view analytics — who watched, completion rates, watch time
Recording your first Rush
- Open Rushes from the sidebar
- Click Record
- Choose a recording mode:
- Screen — captures your screen with optional system audio and microphone
- Camera — face-to-camera recording with microphone
- A 3-second countdown begins
- Record your content
- Click Stop when finished
- Review the recording
- Enter a title (or use the auto-generated one)
- Click Save
Your Rush is uploaded and ready to share.
Recording controls
During recording, you have access to:
- Pause / Resume — temporarily stop recording without ending it
- Stop — finish the recording and enter review mode
- Timer — shows elapsed time (MM:SS)
Quality settings
Choose a quality preset before recording:
| Preset | Resolution | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| High | 1080p | Demos, tutorials, presentations |
| Medium | 720p | Quick updates, feedback (default) |
| Low | 480p | Slow connections, small file sizes |
Device selection
In recording settings, you can choose:
- Microphone — select which audio input to use
- Camera — select which webcam to use (camera mode)
The recorder detects available devices automatically and updates if you plug in new hardware.
Viewing Rushes
Click any Rush to open the full viewer:
- Video player with standard controls (play, pause, seek, volume)
- Playback speed — 1x, 1.25x, 1.5x, or 2x
- Fullscreen mode
- Title — click to edit inline
Time-coded comments
Below the video, view and add comments tied to specific timestamps:
- Play to the moment you want to comment on
- Type your comment in the input below the video
- Submit — the comment is linked to the current timestamp
- Other viewers can click any comment to jump directly to that moment
The Rush library
Grid and list views
The Rush library shows all recordings with two view options:
- Grid view — cards with thumbnails, duration, view count, and status
- List view — compact table with the same information
Search
Use the search bar to find recordings by title.
Rush libraries
Group related recordings into libraries for team or project organisation. Libraries have their own:
- Title and description
- Sharing settings (independent from individual Rush sharing)
- Access controls (owner, admins, or all members)
- Embed codes for websites
