Tracking Progress
Learn about Tracking Progress in WaymakerOS.
Monitor goal progress, identify what's on track and what needs attention, and keep your team aligned on outcomes.
The goals dashboard
Open the People module (Cmd+2) and click Goals to see all objectives. The dashboard shows:
- Goal title and owner
- Progress bar — visual indicator of completion
- Status colour — green (on track), amber (at risk), red (behind)
- Period — which quarter or time frame the goal belongs to
- Level — strategic, departmental, team, or individual
Filtering goals
Use the filter controls to focus your view:
- By level — show only strategic, departmental, team, or individual goals
- By period — filter to a specific quarter or year
- By owner — see goals assigned to a specific person
- By status — active, completed, paused, or cancelled
Updating progress
As work progresses, update key result values regularly:
- Open a goal
- Click a key result
- Enter the new current value
- Add an optional note ("Closed 5 new deals this week")
- Save
The progress bar and status colour update automatically.
How often to update
Most teams update key results weekly or biweekly. The cadence depends on your goal period:
- Quarterly goals — update weekly
- Annual goals — update monthly
- Sprint goals — update daily or every few days
Status colours
| Colour | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Green | On track — progress is at or above where it should be for the time elapsed |
| Amber | At risk — progress is below expected but recoverable |
| Red | Behind — progress is significantly below target for the time elapsed |
Goal reviews
Use the goals dashboard in regular review meetings:
- Weekly standups — quick check on key result movement
- Monthly reviews — deeper dive into trends and blockers
- Quarterly planning — assess final results, set new objectives
Connecting goals to tasks
Goals become actionable when connected to daily work. When creating tasks on your taskboards, reference the goal they contribute to. This helps team members see how their work impacts strategic outcomes.
Completing goals
When a goal period ends:
- Update all key results to their final values
- Review the overall progress
- Mark the goal as Completed
- Use the results to inform the next period's planning
Completed goals remain visible in the history for reference.
