Your Waymaker ID
Learn about Your Waymaker ID in WaymakerOS.
Your Waymaker account has three identity layers. Each serves a different purpose, and they all work together.
The Three Layers
1. Sign-In Account
This is the email address you used when you created your Waymaker account — your Google, Microsoft, or email login. It's how you sign in to Waymaker.
- Example:
stuart@gmail.com - Used for: Signing in, password resets, account notifications
- Change it: Go to WaymakerOne > Profile to update your sign-in email
Your sign-in email is never visible to your team or customers. It's purely for authentication.
2. Waymaker ID Email
When your organization completes setup, every team member receives a Waymaker ID email address. This is your professional identity on the Waymaker network.
- Example:
stuart@acme.waymaker.id - Used for: Sending and receiving email, your inbox in Commander, calendar invitations
- Format:
firstname.lastname@yourorg.waymaker.id - Permanent: Your organization's Waymaker ID subdomain cannot be changed after setup
Your Waymaker ID email is a real, full-featured email address. You can use it in Commander's inbox, add it to your phone, or set it up in Outlook and Apple Mail.
3. Business Domain Email (Optional)
If your organization has its own domain (e.g., acme.com), you can connect it to Waymaker. This creates an alias that delivers to the same inbox as your Waymaker ID.
- Example:
stuart@acme.com(delivers to the same inbox asstuart@acme.waymaker.id) - Used for: Professional email with your own brand, client-facing communication
- Set up: Go to WaymakerOne > Organization > Domains
When you add a business domain, you don't lose your Waymaker ID address — both work, same inbox.
How They Work Together
| Layer | Example | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Sign-in | stuart@gmail.com | Log in to Waymaker |
| Waymaker ID | stuart@acme.waymaker.id | Platform email, inbox, calendar |
| Business domain | stuart@acme.com | Professional alias (same inbox) |
Think of it this way:
- Your sign-in gets you through the door
- Your Waymaker ID is your desk and mailbox
- Your business domain is the name on your business card
Common Questions
Does my sign-in email change when I get a Waymaker ID? No. Your sign-in stays exactly the same. Waymaker ID is a separate email address for communication — it doesn't replace your login.
Can I send email from my sign-in address? No. Your sign-in address is only for authentication. To send email, use your Waymaker ID or business domain in Commander.
What if I don't add a business domain?
That's fine. Your Waymaker ID email works on its own. Many teams use their .waymaker.id address as their primary professional email.
Can I change my Waymaker ID subdomain?
No. The subdomain (e.g., acme in acme.waymaker.id) is permanent and set during account setup. Choose carefully.
What happens when a new team member joins?
They automatically receive a Waymaker ID email (e.g., jane@acme.waymaker.id) and a welcome email with setup instructions.
Unifying Your Identity
Once your business domain is connected, you can update your sign-in email to match. Go to WaymakerOne > Profile and change your login to your business domain address (e.g., stuart@acme.com).
At that point, everything aligns:
| Layer | Before | After |
|---|---|---|
| Sign-in | stuart@gmail.com | stuart@acme.com |
| Waymaker ID | stuart@acme.waymaker.id | stuart@acme.waymaker.id |
| Business domain | stuart@acme.com | stuart@acme.com |
Your sign-in, your inbox, and your business card all point to the same professional identity. Your Waymaker ID address still works — it just quietly delivers to the same place.
This isn't required. Plenty of people keep a personal email for sign-in and a professional email for communication. But if you want one identity across everything, Waymaker makes that simple.
