Document Templates

TemplatesProductivity

Start from a template instead of a blank page. Templates give you a pre-built structure so you can focus on the content, not the formatting.

Using a template

  1. Create a new document (from Explorer or Tools module)
  2. In the new document view, click Start from Template
  3. Browse or search the available templates
  4. Click a template to preview it
  5. Click Use Template to create a document pre-filled with the template content

The template content is copied into your new document. You can edit everything — the template is a starting point, not a constraint.

Creating your own templates

Any document can become a template:

  1. Create a document with your desired structure and formatting
  2. Open the document settings sidebar
  3. Click Save as Template
  4. Give it a name and description
  5. Choose whether it's available to your entire organisation or just your workspace

Your custom templates appear alongside the built-in ones when anyone in your organisation creates a new document.

Editing templates

To update a template you've created:

  1. Go to Tools (Cmd+4) > Documents
  2. Filter by Templates
  3. Open the template
  4. Edit the content
  5. Changes apply to the template — existing documents created from it are not affected
