Sharing & Collaboration
Learn about Sharing & Collaboration in WaymakerOS.
Work on documents together in real time. Control who can view, edit, and comment — from your team to external stakeholders.
Real-time editing
When multiple people open the same document, everyone sees changes as they happen. Each collaborator gets a coloured cursor with their name, so you always know who's editing where.
There's no locking, no "someone else is editing" warnings. Waymaker's CRDT engine merges all changes cleanly, even when two people edit the same line simultaneously.
Presence indicators
The document header shows avatars of everyone currently viewing or editing. Hover over an avatar to see their name and whether they're actively editing or just viewing.
Sharing settings
Open the document settings sidebar and click Sharing to control access.
Edit access levels
Choose who can edit the document:
- Owner only — only the document creator can edit
- Admins — workspace and organisation admins
- All members — anyone in the workspace
- Specific people — choose individual team members
Everyone else with workspace access can view but not edit.
Public sharing
To share a document with people outside your organisation:
- Open sharing settings
- Toggle Public link on
- Copy the generated link
- Share it via email, chat, or anywhere else
Public links are read-only by default. Recipients don't need a Waymaker account to view the document.
To revoke public access, toggle the public link off. The link immediately stops working.

Resolving comments
When a discussion is complete, click Resolve to collapse the comment thread. Resolved comments are hidden from the main view but can be shown again from the settings sidebar.

@in the document - Someone replies to a comment thread they're part of
- The document is shared with them
- A comment is added to a document they own
Notifications appear in Commander's notification centre and can optionally be sent via email.
