Tables

Introduction to Tables

Learn about Introduction to Tables in WaymakerOS.

DataDatabase

Store and manage structured data inside your Waymaker workspace. Tables give you a database-style grid with typed columns, filtering, sorting, and connections to external data sources.

What are Tables?

Tables in Waymaker Commander are structured data grids — think of them as a database you can see and edit directly. Unlike sheets (which are freeform spreadsheets), tables enforce column types, support advanced filtering, and can connect to external services like Stripe or Google.

When to use Tables vs Sheets

UseTablesSheets
Structured data with typesYes — enforced column typesNo — freeform
Connecting to APIsYes — Stripe, Google, webhooksNo
Calculations and formulasNoYes

Common use cases

  • CRM data — customers, leads, deals
  • Product inventory — SKUs, stock levels, pricing
  • External data — Stripe charges, Google Analytics events
  • Application data — structured data that custom apps read and write
  • Reference data — lookup tables, configuration values

Key features

Typed columns

Every column has a type that constrains what data can be entered:

  • Text — free-form text
  • Number — integers and decimals
  • Date — date values with a date picker
  • Select — dropdown with predefined options
  • Boolean — true/false checkbox
  • URL — clickable web links
  • Email — email addresses
  • JSON — structured JSON data

Filtering and sorting

Filter rows by any column value and sort by any column. Combine multiple filters to find exactly the data you need.

Data connections

Connect tables to external data sources through Connections. When data arrives via webhook or API, it populates rows in your table automatically.

Access control

Tables support member management — control who can view and edit data. Tables can also be connected to Host apps and Ambassadors through the Schema module for application-level data access.

Getting started

  1. Open any workspace in Commander
  2. In the Explorer sidebar (Cmd+1), expand a project
  3. Click + and select Table
  4. Name your table and start defining columns

Or use Tools (Cmd+4) > Tables to browse and create across workspaces.
